We, the undersigned — doctors, patients, researchers and citizens — call on medical regulators and health ministries to formally consider PLAB as one acceptable route to medical registration, alongside existing national pathways.
We do not ask regulators to remove language requirements, background checks, or supervised practice where they consider them proportionate. We ask only that a validated, GMC-administered licensing examination be treated as sufficient evidence of core clinical competence — sparing qualified physicians the burden of near-identical repeat assessments and helping to relieve documented workforce shortages.
